This comprehensive hands-on course is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to develop the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills necessary to safely and effectively place vascular access devices using ultrasound guidance.

Through a combination of evidence-based instruction, live demonstrations, and supervised hands-on practice, participants will learn the principles and techniques required for successful ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures in a variety of clinical settings.

Course Overview

Morning Session: Ultrasound-Guided Peripheral IV (USG-PIV)

The morning session will provide a foundational understanding of ultrasound-guided vascular access, including:

  • Principles of ultrasound-guided practice
  • Vascular anatomy and vessel identification
  • Ultrasound technology and image optimization
  • Vascular access device types and definitions
  • Evidence-based practices for patient safety and procedural success
  • Hands-on ultrasound-guided peripheral IV insertion training

Participants will gain practical experience locating vessels, interpreting ultrasound images, and performing ultrasound-guided peripheral IV placement techniques.

Afternoon Session: PICC and Midline Catheter Placement

The afternoon session will focus on advanced vascular access procedures and includes:

  • Overview of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC) and Midline Catheters
  • Indications, contraindications, and device selection
  • Insertion procedures and best practices
  • Complication prevention and management
  • Hands-on demonstrations and guided practice opportunities
Competency Validation

Participants will receive skills validation checklists to take back to their facility.  These tools may be used by employers to assess and document clinical competency according to organizational policies and requirements.

Who Should Attend?

This course is appropriate for Registered Nurses (RNs),  Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physicians, Physician Assistants (PAs), Radiologists, Radiology Technologists & Assistants, and any other qualified healthcare professionals involved in vascular access procedures.

Certificate & Continuing Education

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Completion.  Contact hours are approved for Registered Nurses through Florida Board of Nursing Provider #50-998. Contact hours are available only to RNs who meet all course completion requirements.
