PICC-Midline Online Education Program
This comprehensive online program is ideal for any clinician who wishes to learn how to safely place PICC and Midline devices using ultrasound guidance and prefers self-paced independent-study.
It is comprised of 3 separate online sessions totaling 14.5 hours presented by Kay Coulter, CRNI, VA-BC. To give a better understanding of the course material, the PowerPoint slides have been integrated into each video presentation.
Online Program Includes:
PICC 101: This 6.5-hour session comprehensively reviews all of the aspects of practice related to PICC insertion, as well as peripheral midline placement. Content includes patient selection and indications for PICC placement (midline placement); anatomy and physiology; PICC insertion (midline insertion) techniques; PICC/midline site care and device maintenance; and PICC insertion (midline insertion) related complications.
PICC 102: This 3.5-hour session will discuss evidence-based management of potential problems and complications relating to the placement of PICC’s and midlines. Content includes a PICC complication (midline complication) review; what to do with malpositioned PICC catheters; how to properly clear occluded PICC catheters; and over wire PICC exchanges.
PICC 103: This 4.5-hour session will discuss MST (Modified Seldinger Technique) PICC placement utilizing Ultrasound Technology. Content includes an overview of the MST PICC insertion procedure; principles of Ultrasound Technology for PICC placement; a review of portable Ultrasound equipment; and potential complications.

Certificate & Continuing Education:
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive 3 separate Certificates of Completion for the individual sessions listed above. Contact hours are approved for Registered Nurses through Florida Board of Nursing Provider #50-998. Contact hours are available only to RNs who meet all course completion requirements.
